Bank of England shoot, 1986

Fashion, London 1985

Back in the 80’s us young photographers had huge, elaborate ideas. Big production, Baroque ideas.

This one is from a series two of us undertook back in those idealistic days. It is still somehow resonant as an image…

Ah the adventure of it!

It was shot guerrilla style on the side wall of the Bank of England no less, in the process nearly got the whole crew arrested. It was actually illegal even then to photograph the Fort Knox of Britain…

Shot on a Pentax 6×7 (I think) on Pan F, model: Helen. Then it was into the darkroom and out with the complex chemistry set of toners and other evil stuff I used to work with in those days. This one won a print award…

Fashion, Athens 1995

Another example of fashion work a decade later. In our little bathroom, with the wonderful Katalin.

It was and is, one of my personal favourites. The whole series follows this impossibly glamourous woman surrounded by the evidence of her unsavoury life.

This was series shot with natural light only, on a Hasselblad with my customary 80mm standard lens on Fuji Provia 400 ASA Daylight reversal film (no messing around in Photoshop in those days!).

Model: Katalin, Makeup: Tassos, Styling: Cassi & me
