My wife Cassi and I, as I have mentioned a zillion times on this site, have a long running love affair with Athens, where we have made a home for the last 30 years. Now this September she is on her summer time off from work, we have been trying to go out every day and do long walks through this amazing and eternally fascinating city.
On the 8th we spent a long beautiful day walking the whole of our favourite Athens nature reserve, the superbly peaceful Tritsi park.
On the 10th and 11th of this month we went to Voula at the southern end of the city on the coast, and walked all the way back, meandering to the part known as Edem and got the tram back. The next day we did the same from the other end, walking from Kalithea on foot meandering once more, taking in amazing sites and shooting them all the way to Edem again. Also taking in the fantastic Niarchos Cultural Centre midway between Glifada and Piraeus. Also tried to visit the Naval Museum Ship Averof, but sadly it is closed due to building work around the whole port area. This includes the mini sub S113.
On the 13th we did another long walk from the northern suburb of leafy and wealthy Kifissia through the back area to the magnificent Syggros Park and botanical reserve, and from there to Maroussi.
Here’s a few shots I took.
All the shots on a Nikon D750 & Nikkor 28mm f2.8, 105mm, f2.5 Ai-S series.
