Nudes – Artemis Noir 2016
Nudes – Cassi (since 1994)
On this set things are a little different. The relationship is an entirely other circumstance. Cassi and I have been together since 1994, and have photographed each other countless times. Some of those sessions were nudes and semi nudes. Here is a small selection of the more intimate shoots of her over the years since we began.
"The Woman Project"
the WOMAN Project
Started in 2011 the concept was simple.
I wanted to photograph twenty women, of all ages, selected on the basis of my own personal aesthetic, with the proviso that none were professional models and that we could work together without all the trappings of the normal practices of fashion & beauty photography.
Goes without saying all the women took part voluntarily & brought their own style of presentation to the set.
Some from the Project

WOMAN • MOVIE STAR • ICON
The very first set of the project till 2015.
It was an exploration that was quite revealing.
Private Places
Some of the nude work over recent years
The Nudes are, to my mind, an essential part of the exploration of the Woman Project. Here’s a few samples.

More Women
Over time since 2010 I have photographed
many wonderful women for this project.
Here are various pages that feature work
from this set.
Nudes – Rea 2012
Nudes – Ioanna Korina 2019
Nudes – Joanna – 2016
Nudes – Natasha 2017
WOMAN
In a way this was the most interesting part of the series for me.
I asked each of my sitters to consider their self image from all angles. Each was asked to think about how they viewed themselves, what was their ideal image of themselves, what in their opinion identified them in their imagination with their deepest personality. It was a hard brief in that I wanted them to explore and dig a little deeper than surface beauty or sex appeal.
I wanted to see if we together could capture an image of them that would encompass both how they would like to present themselves in combination with how I saw them, beyond their physical appearance. I think we succeeded in pulling out some very deep psychological maps from each of the women.
It was interesting to note how over time as they thought more about the brief, and the more we discussed the concept, their ideas became richer.
MOVIE STAR
The Second phase was the Movie Star section where we aimed to achieve images of each woman in the atmosphere of the classic photography of the golden age of cinema.
This allowed us to create a romance and a sense of glamour around the image of each woman. I asked them all to wear clothes they owned that made them feel glamorous and beautiful and to apply make-up that they wore when they went out and wanted to look at their most alluring.
The shots were, where possible, taken in their own environments or in borrowed locations; this was a sort of homage to the photographs of the Film Noir where they seemed to feel no special need for glamorous locations, something I always loved about the casualness of the style, while highlighting the absolute beauty of the women in the photographs.
